Well, that didn’t take too long! You can now get one (or pre-order the kit) of the new AVAST Mutiny Ozone Reactors! The pre-assembled reactors start at $200 while the assemble your own kit will save you $50. I’ve ordered myself a pre-assembled Mutiny I and will post more information about it when I get it.

Check this out. AVAST Marine Works, known for their affordable DIY skimmer and media reactor kits, is coming our with a new DIY/pre-assembled product — the AVAST ozone reactor. Basically, the way it works is water and ozone (O3) gets mixed through a Venturi and the fine droplets get get sprayed into a sealed distribution plate. The mixture then passes through AVAST’s in-house manufactured bio-bale (from Virgin HDPE) specifically made for ozone reactor use, for maximum contact time.

AVAST has incorporated a plug and play approach to maintain the correct back pressure, so no one has to fiddle with and valves and keep the operating pressure inside the reactor at 3psi. However, a flow meter is included to measure the correct airflow/ozone delivery and to easily dial in the optimal mix ratio.

Three sizes will be offered and will be available via DIY or pre-assembled. The pre-assemled reactors will be released first sometime mid-February. Expect the prices between $200 and $300.
